Here's our 4th hike in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Join us on one of them, two of them, or even all of them if you can! Wear a sombrero and get into the spirit of the day! We'll take a break between hikes 3 and 4 to have a Mexican lunch at Tijuana Joe's on Roswell Road (Sandy Springs). Lunch will take place around 2 pm. Join us before this hike, if you can.
This hike will be an after-lunch leg-stretcher at a park just minutes from Tijuana Joe's on Roswell Road, where the group will have gathered for lunch. If you would like to join us for lunch before this hike, we'll be meeting there at 2 pm.
There are bathroom facilities at this location and NO parking fees! It doesn't get any better than that.
Morgan Falls Park provides some scenic overlooks of the Bull Sluice Lake, which is a small reservoir of the Chattahoochee River, including a chance to see Gold Branch from the Morgan Falls Dam side of the lake. After hiking the one-mile trail across the "mountain", we'll walk down the road to the dam to get a close-up look at the structure that governs the depth of the lake. Then, we'll hike past a couple of dog parks that provide a safe playground area for our four-footed friends. If time permits, we'll hike a bit down the trail bordering Bull Sluice Lake to fill up our time.
Please be prompt. The hike starts at 3:45 pm!
|How to Get There:|
This park is just 1/10 of a mile down the road from Big Tree Preserve on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. If you have a GPS, you can put in the coordinates provided (33.97050, -84.37977400) or use the following address:
200 Morgan Falls Rd
If you're having lunch at Tijuana Joe's, you turn right out of the parking lot and then a right at the traffic light. Drive all the way down the long road to the dead end. Turn LEFT and drive down the road past the electrical plant and park in the lot across from the dog park.
Parking is free!
A nice bathroom!
