Itinerary:

This is not our usual Monday Morning Beginners Welcome hike but so worth it.  Our regular Monday morning members have gotten stronger over the years, so we wanted to ramp it up a bit so that we could show them a beautiful trail that many haven't yet seen.  Consequently, this is NOT a hike for folks who don't have much hiking experience. The Swheat reward at the end makes this event extra special, so don't miss it! We'll do both the east and west trails covering approximately 4.5-miles, with a jaunt up to the spectacular summit overlook.  The pace will be moderate and steady but we'll slow down a bit on the steeper ascents.

After the hike, folks will have the option to enjoy lunch at Swheat Market Deli just down Main Street in downtown Cartersville (see address below). It gets a 4.7 star review on Google with 329 respondents.

There is no official carpool for this event, so if you coordinate with others for the hike, be sure to coordinate lunch plans as well.

Dogs are permitted on this hike but please keep in mind that you must leave your dog in the car if you join us for lunch.

Pine Mountain Recreation Area is owned and maintained by the City of Cartersville Parks and Recreation Department and the trail is rated moderate to difficult.  Acquired from a private donation, this land is part of 13,000 acres that was the original site of Mark Anthony Cooper's Iron Empire. The highest point in Cartersville is reached at the summit of 1562 feet above mean sea level and has views of Lake Allatoona, the Etowah River Valley, Red Top Mountain State Park, and Plant Bowen.
