Description: Join National Park Service Naturalist Jerry Hightower for a wonderful early spring  loop hike through oak, hickory, and beech forests and Rhododendron/Mountain Laurel thickets along the ridges above Bull Sluice Lake.  This is an excellent area for viewing wildlife. We will meander through mesic and xeric forest and examine the differences.  Along the shores of Bull Sluice Lake we might glimpse Osprey, Great Blue Herons, other water fowl, and perhaps a Muskrat or Beaver.  The shores of Gold Branch Cove are particularly rich and we might glimpse early spring wildflower blooms and ferns, so please join us.

Location:  We will meet in the parking area and trail head in the parking area on Lower Roswell Road in Cobb County.

Facilities: none

Difficulty: This hike might be moderately strenuous to some persons.

Bring: Remember to dress for the weather and wear very comfortable hiking shoes.  Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and your activity level.  Carry water. You may wish to bring binoculars, hand lens, notebook, and camera.
