Itinerary:
If you have never hiked the Coosa Backcountry Trail because of the mountainous terrain and the long miles, then this is the hike for you! Starting at Vogel State Park, hiking counter clockwise, our trail will carry the group into The Burnett Gap. We will then hike into the low area of Sosebee Creek Valley where we will cross the foot bridge just before Wolf Creek Road. Next we will have some steady climbs that will bring us to Calf Stomp Gap . We will have our proposed break just before it summits Coosa Bald (4280ft). After the break we will divert the hike and finish up the loop on a dirt two track, no gravel. The loop will finish back to Vogel State Park. Have some experience with some D3 and some 4s hikes please. Parking fee 5.00$ or your annual pass. Bathrooms are available. We will all meet at Vogel State Park. No carpool.
