Itinerary:
THIS WILL BE A WET EVENT!

We had such a great time on the first go around of this event here's round two before it gets too cold.

East Palisades has a great beach and shallow area for dogs to run and play in the river.  We will begin at the beach area to let the dogs get acquainted.  Then where the river splits at the beginning of long island, we will start our wet journey down the spur following the shore.  The spur is shallow and doesn't get more than knee/waist deep (depending on how the river is flowing) with a low-flow rate, making it great to stroll down and throw tennis balls or floaty toys with the dogs.  If you have a smaller dog you can follow a trail along the shore flanking us in the water.  We will go about a quarter mile in the water to another shallow beachy area and let the dogs play some more there.  After playing at the second beachy area for a little while, we will return the same way back to the beach.

Once back at the first beach area we will begin our short hike so we can dry off.  The beach is very close to the parking lot making it easy to quickly change shoes before we begin our hike.  I typically bring river shoes and hiking boots, changing out of my river shoes into hiking boots before we begin our hike.

If you have a dog that loves the water, they will forever thank you.  I take my dogs here and they are tired for days after we play here.

Please remember to bring $3 for the National Park Service parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass.

Required Items to Bring:
Water, bathing suit or quick-dry pants or shorts, hiking boots/shoes or river shoes (something you don't mind getting wet as we will be walking in the river), $3 or NRA parking pass if you have one.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Tennis balls, chuck-it, floating toys, dog treats, poop bags, hiking poles.
