Itinerary:

We will start at Byron Reese Memorial parking lot and start on the Byron Reece trail for 0.7 miles until we get to flat rock gap intersection and go east on the Appalachian Trail. We will stay on the A/T for the remaining of the hike. We will then pass Neel Gap (bathroom break if needed) and head to Levelland Mountain at a total of 3 miles and stop for a break. After the stop, we'll pass the tip of Buzzard rock ridge to our north pushing foward just before Cowrock Mountain. We will stop on Wolf Laurel top for a view . This is a good campsite for a few campers. The group will then get back on trail heading east to Cowrock, which will be the half way point for the hike. This is approximately 6 miles where we will then stop for lunch and enjoy the views from the south. After lunch we will step back on to the A/T and retrace our tracks back to our cars. Elevation gain is approximately 3000 ft. If you have not recently completed some D5 hikes with the AOC, the leader will likely contact you to determine your abilities for this hike.
