Itinerary:

For this hike we will NOT be hiking the mountain itself but instead on trails south of Burnt Hickory Road.   

We will meet at the Burnt Hickory Road/Pigeon Hill parking lot near the kiosk. Please arrive a few minutes early for check in. There are no bathrooms at this parking lot so plan accordingly.  

Parking is now $5 at Kennesaw Mountain NBP or use of an annual pass (Kennesaw Mt NBP specific or annual or lifetime America The Beautiful National Park passes).  You can pay for parking either at the KMNBP visitors center or online at Recreation.Gov.  There are no parking kiosks in the Burnt Hickory/ Pigeon Hill lot.

We will head up Pigeon Hill first Taking the Little Kennesaw Cutoff to the East trail, we will cross Burnt Hickory Road and head up New Salem Church trail.  Once we get to Noses Creek trail we will head across and take the Hardage Mill South Trail. The hike will turn across Dallas Highway to the Cease Fire Trail ireaching the Illinois Monument. After breaking, we turn West and connecting to the Old John Ward Trail back North - retrace the South Hardage and finish up the North Hardage Trail and back to the cars.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park - Burnt Hickory Road/ Pigeon Hill Parking Lot

1520 Burnt Hickory Road, Marietta, GA 30064

From I-75 North

Take either the North or South Marietta loop off I-75 North and make your way towards Marietta.  When you arrive at Whitlock Avenue (GA 120) head west approximately 1.5 miles.  Turn right onto Burnt Hickory Road and travel 1.3 miles.  The Burnt Hickory Parking lot is located on the left at the intersection of Burnt Hickory and Old Mountain Road.
