Kennesaw - starting at Burnt Hickory/Pigeon Hill

We will meet at 7:20 at the Burnt Hickory/Pigeon Hill parking lot on Burnt Hickory Road.  at 7:30 a.m. will be head out on Pigeon Hill Trail and make our way over Little Kennesaw and then Big Kennesaw.  Head to the visitor center to use restrooms, rest for about 15 min. and then head back to our vechiles via the Brumby Trail to the Pigeon Hill Trail (the part of our hike after the visitor center is fairly flat (very little elevation).  the first part of our hike has lots of elevation and some tricky terrain with roots/rocks/boulders. 

This hike rated as a D3 due to the elevation and distance - the climb up will be slow and easy - the second half of the hike will be at a moderate pace.

Per vehilce fee is usually $5 which I undersatnd is currently being waived due to COVID-19.  I will update this posting if anything changes before 8/2/2020

Posted as 3 1/4 hours - but hope to get back to our cars in 3 hours - just wanted to leave a little wiggle room in case.

AOC limit on this event is 10 hikers - ocassionally (if everybody logs in at once and registers at once) the system has a glitch and may allow more than 10 hikers on the event.  If this does happen I am obligated to keep to the 10 limit and remove the last ones that signed up.  I get notification of time you register and to be fair the first 10 are the only ones that I keep on the roster.  

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park - Burnt Hickory/ Pigeon Hill Parking Lot

1520 Burnt Hickory Road NW, Marietta, GA 30064(at intersection of Old Mountain Road NW and Burnt Hickory Road NW)

From I-75 North

Take either the North or South Marietta loop off I-75 North and make your way towards Marietta.  When you arrive at Whitlock Avenue (GA 120) head west approximately 1.5 miles.  Turn right onto Burnt Hickory Road and travel 1.3 miles.  The Burnt Hickory/ Pigeon Hill Parking lot is located on the left at the intersection of Burnt Hickory and Old Mountain Road.
