Itinerary:

We will hike south on the main trail and turnaround under the I-285 bridge.

On the northbound return, we will turn onto the boardwalk trail and take the hill up to the top of the ridge.

From there, we will work our way toward the main trail as we pass by the wetland.

We will take the parallel trail alongside the river as we head to our parking lot.

The hike includes river and wetland views.

There is one strong hill but overal there is less than 400 feet of elevation gain so we will be setting a high pace for a D2 to try to make this hike a challenging D2.

Length 5.0 mi

Elevation Gain 180 feet

Moving Time: 1:30

Avg. Speed: 3.3 mph

We will be starting at 3.5 mph and finish the last mile at 3.5 mph.

Our middle mile includes a 115 foot elevaton gain at 2.9 mph.

This is above average speed for a D2 but easy to navigate on the main trail on your own if you find the group's pace is too much.

If you are a slower hiker on my other D2s, I will remove you from this hike if you register for this one so we have a faster pace group and keep everyone part of the group.

The time is set at for early afternoon because the parking availability was good at that time (Oct 5, 2020 visit)

This is a busy trail but social distancing is comfortable given the main trial is two  cars wide and the side trails had little or no usage (July 1, 2020).

The side trails have some roots but not bad.  No rocks.

The entire trek is on soft surface and more shaded than not.

Masks are not required.
