Itinerary:

Cold day on cold mountain! We start at the Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp Ground. Taking Little East Fork Trail for the start of the counter-clockwise loop. Head south at around mile 6 meet up with the Shining Rock Gap. We will have access to Shining Rock Mountain (5,500 ft) at a short distance. After Shining Rock we take Art Loeb Trail and head due North to Stairs Mountain ( 5,869). Our climb will be on the spine of a Ridge called The Narrows until descending into Deep Gap at mile 9. There we'll take the Cold Mountain trail (6,030) for a out & back 3 mile round trip ( elevation gain of 1,000 ft ). After taking in the views we re-trace our steps back to the Art Loeb Trail and head back for the cars to finish the loop for 4.3 miles. be prepared, this will be a steep descent. Mountain Travel for this hike is approximately (4,300 ). I will request A.O.C. experienced D-5 & D-6 hikes with over several 15 mile North Georgia Mountain hikes within 6 months of time....The Trip leader does reserve the right to move you back to the waiting list if needed.
