Itinerary:



We will begin our hike at the top of Amicalola Falls.  The trailhead for both the AT approach trail and Len Foote Hike Inn begin here. We'll take the AT approach Trail to Springer Mtn,.  We'll have lunch for about 20 minutes at Springer campsite before hitting the trail heading back. We'll hike back  to  Len Foote trail and to the Inn.  The Inn is closed for hikers these days so we take a break at the back of the Inn for 5 minutes  before heading back to the Parking lot.

Top of the Fall Parking lot to Springer Shelter : 7.7 miles 2560 feet ascent

Springer Shelter to Parking lot : 9.1 miles 1570 feet ascent

Total: 16.8 miles 4130 feet ascent

 

Because of the distance and elevation gain, this is not a beginners hike. If your AOC history does not show recent D4 or higher experience, then I will contact you to confirm this event is appropriate for your current level

 

Also note, there is NO carpool for this event. We will meet at the top of the falls parking lot a few minutes before 8:30 am to begin hiking promptly at 8:30.

There is a $5 GA DNR parking fee per vehicle at Amicalola Falls State Park unless you display an annual pass.
