Itinerary:

The Duncan Ridge Trail starts at Three Forks and winds its way to Blood Mt. It is a difficult, remote trail with outstanding payoffs and challenges.  Join me in a series of hikes to explore the DRT from start to finish.

  • Part I:  Toccoa River Swinging Bridge to Three Forks
  • Part II:  Toccoa Swinging Bridge to Rhodes Mt
  • Part III: Rhodes Mt to Mulkey Gap
  • Part IV:  Mulkey Gap to Coosa Mt.
  • Part V:   Georgia Triple Crown

Part IV - Mulkey Gap to Coosa Mt.

Join me as I start at Mulkey Gap and make my way to the intersection of the Coosa Backcountry Loop at Coosa Bald. We will be climbing three mountains on the way: West Wildcat Knob, Buckeye Knob and Coosa Bald. We should be getting some winter views as we walk along the ridge line. We will eat lunch on Coosa Bald before we retrace our steps back to the cars. We will be moving on the high side of moderate with an average rate of 2.75 mph. This hike has about 4300 feet of elevation gain.

This is a difficult D6 hike. Recent D5/D6 experience is required!
