Itinerary:

Join us for a morning hike at beautiful Stone Mountain Park. We will meet inside the park near the restrooms at the bottom of the walk up trail behind Confederate Hall. We'll pick up the Cherokee Trail and circle the mountain counterclock wise once going by the Grist Mill and the covered bridge. The trail hugs the mountain’s lower elevations, crossing through sparse pine forest and wide-open, sun-drenched, rocky landscapes peppered with wind-blown wildflowers, flowering trees and grasses. The temp. will be in the mid 40's.

The hike will begin at 9:00am so please show up 10 minutes early.

MASK REQUIRED. We will keep a safe distance when we hike.

This is not a fitness hike nor a beginners either. We do plan to keep a moderate pace with a few rest stops along the way. We'll not climb Stone Mountain.

If you don't already have a pass to get into the park, a day pass can be purchased at the gate for $20 or a yearly pass for $40. If you don't want to pay anything, see instructions below for free parking outside the park. (If you park outside the park, give yourself enough time to find the Park-n-Ride lot and at least 15 minutes to make the walk into the park to meet up with the group)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Directions: To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile – stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. The parking lot will be immediately after. We’ll meet behind Confederate Hall near the walk up trail.

If you would like to try the free public parking in Stone Mountain Village, from Hwy 78 take exit 5 and merge onto GA 10. Proceed 0.5 miles to the first exit. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so, past a gas station and a funeral parlor (both on your right). When you see City Hall turn left. There is a Marta park and ride on fourth street. From there it is a short walk on East Mountain Street. Enter the park through the gate and you'll be at the parking lot where we'll be meeting. The Marta parking lot is about an 10-minute walk from the park.
