Itinerary:

Special thanks to Chuck Robin for the use of his beaver photo.

This hike is categorized as a D3 because of the trail having slope but mostly because of speeds in excess of 3 mph.  This is not the hike for you if you are not comfortable with a fast paced hike.

During the hike of this section in mid-January, each mile exceeded 3 mph and over half was 3.3 - 3.5 mph.

Drive to Paces Mill for the start.  We will convene by the restroom building in the back parking lot at Paces Mill off Cobb Parkway bridge.

We will take the trail from Paces Mill to the Rottenwood Creek trail.

Rottenwood Creek 4 mile trail (280 feet elevation gain) should have enough slope for the pavement to drain relatively well after the preceding rains.

At Akers Mill Road, the Rottenwood Trail name changes to Bob Callan but continues to follow the creek.

This is an in and out hike.

Here are a few posts on AllTrails:

"A great mix between the urban atlanta area, and the wildlife / Chattahoochee river. Great for walking, hiking, and running as well."

"Gorgeous walk with plenty of scenery, both natural and urban. Great way to spend an afternoon."

Weather:  64 - 67 degrees, partly cloudy with 5 % rain chance and winds of 4 -9 mph
