Itinerary:

This should be a good hike on some lesser known trails near Cartersville.   The summit of Vineyard Mtn is at 1352' and it's a true steep workout for the first mile and a half.  The rest of the trail is more moderate with views of Lake Allatoona along the way. The scouts do a good job of maintaining this trail which is rarely used compared to the Red Top Mtn trails nearby, probably because Red Top Mtn is a state park and Vineyard Mtn is part of the Army Core of Engineers Riverside Day Use park.

We should be finished by around sunset, which will leave plenty of time to get to the AOC monthly social if you plan to attend.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From the Chastain Road park and ride lot we travel about 14 miles to exit 285, turn west (left) at the top and travel to Cobb Parkway (US 41) where we go north (right).  In a little over a mile, look for a large red water treatment plant and brown sign, on the right, that reads "Riverside Day Use Park". It is about 1.5 miles down Allatoona Dam road to the trailhead parking on the right, and next to the Eagle Scout trailhead sign to Vineyard Mountain.
Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):28Mile(s)
Carpool Departure Time: 2:40 pm

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $11.20 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
