Itinerary:

I recently have become obsessed with the Pinhoti Trail. It is very cool, not too far from home and seldom done by the AOC. Join me as a do a 16 mile section of this long trail starting at Dug Gap.

We will start at the Dug Gap parking area which is more like parking on the side of a dirt road. Our initial climb will be Dug Mountain which is a 300 foot climb to start our morning off right. We then start our 4 mile descent that leads to a hairpin turn and the start of the climb of Hurricane Mountain. Hurricane Mt quickly becomes Middle Mountain and it is here that we turn around and retrace our steps to the car. There should be no road walk sections on this trek, but you can expect a fair amount of rocky, rooty goodness.

Somewhere along the way we will stop for lunch. We will be averaging about 2.8 mph putting our pace at the hign end of the moderate range.

This is a long D5 hike, so recent appropriate experience is required to join the fun.
