Itinerary:

Please follow the COVID-19 protocols of your choice that include wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet from others and washing your hands.

Note that by visiting Stone Mountain Park you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Let's meet at the Confederate Hall near the restrooms and start our hike at 5:40 PM. Please arrive early so we can introduce ourselves.

The route will take us around the lake, enjoying the views and the spring weather. At the end, we will go up and down the mountain and we will need a head lamp. 


Required Items to Bring:

Hiking shoes, water , snacks , walking poles and head lamp. The daily parking rate is $20 per vehicle or the annual rate is $40

Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot:

To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.

MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.

From Downtown/Midtown Atlanta
Take 10th St NE and Monroe Dr NE to Ponce De Leon Ave NE. Follow Ponce De Leon Ave NE and US- 78 E to E Ponce De Leon Ave. take exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. Follow the exit ramp to the East Gate entrance of Stone Mountain Park.

From Downtown Atlanta (via I-20)
Take I-20 East to I-285 North. Once on I-285 North, take Exit 39B, the U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel 7.7 miles and take exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. Follow the exit ramp to the East Gate entrance of Stone Mountain Park.
