When we arrive at the trailhead off of Hwy. 107 in South Carolina, we backpack some 4 ½ miles, stopping at Lick Log Falls and later the falls above Rock Gorge, on the way for a viewing, relaxation breaks. Then we arrive at our large primitive camping area (no facilities except for fire ring) next to the Chattooga River; with beach and swimming hole. After setting up our tents we will hike in dayhiking gear to the gorgeous, roaring Big Bend Falls on the Chattooga River after a moderate to strenuous hike of some 2 miles. We return to our camping area, and gather firewood, make a fire and enjoy each others company and after dehydrated backpacking dinner (that you bring); the smores I have promised several people as the nights dessert. The next morning, we can all sleep in, wake up in a leisurely manner, and enjoy breakfast (you bring your own breakfast) and we can all enjoy foot dipping or swimming before packing up and hiking out.

After arriving at our cars, a short drive to Burrells Ford (some 7 miles total) will take us to a short day hike (2 miles easy to moderate) to the prettiest of the waterfalls this area has to offer—King Creek Falls—some 85 feet high and dazzlingly beautiful.
