Itinerary:

This is not a beginners hike.

Start Time - 6:00

We are targeting a pace of 3 mph.

Mike cannot do his hike this week, so he has asked me to fill in for him. The route we take will be a little bit different but I will try to keep it to 6 miles and keep to the time.

Let’s get a quick 6 in after work.  We’ll start at Sope Creek CRNRA.  From there we’ll wind our way down to Columns Drive, taking in a brief stop at the restrooms.  Then we’ll wind our way back to Sope Creek, including a quick lap of the pond.

The hike will be just over 6 miles and about 800 feet of total elevation gain.  We’ll be moving at a fast pace, averaging about 3 mph.

There is a $5 parking fee at CRNRA parks or you can buy an annual pass for $40. You can purchase daily parking with your smart phone at Sope Creek.  There is a sign with the QR code in the parking lot.  You can purchase an annual pass at the Island Ford CRNRA Ranger Station.

There are no restrooms at the parking area.
