Itinerary:

It's Monday - - and since I'm leaving town for a week and will miss my Thursday hike at Island Ford, I thought it would be nice to do a slower Monday morning hike there!   We'll start at the upper parking lot (first on the left as you enter the park) and take the Lollipop Trail with a unique route (provided by David V.!)  After returning to the parking lot, if time permits, we'll venture down to the river and back, hopefully getting in around 5 miles of trails.

There's a $5 parking fee for Island Ford, which you can pay for online ((https://www.nps.gov/chat/index.htm), at the Visitor Center (a mile down the road), or at the kiosk using your smart phone and credit card.  If you plan to hike with the AOC throughout the year, it's definitely worth purchasing an annual pass for $40.

Bathrooms are available at the Visitor Center.  Please allow 15 minutes to drive there and back before the hike.  We'll start the hike on time out of respect for those who arrive early and are ready to hike at 10 am.
