Itinerary:

Note: PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE COORDINATES OF THIS TRAILHEAD - begins on a gravel drive *This trail does not touch the actual mountain or intersect with any trail that does*

Come and explore a little known side trail at Stone Mtn Park called The Trail of the Muscogee. Join me for an easy going 3 mile evening hike/walk on this 1.5 mile loop trail that follows one of the northernmost lake-shores in the park before turning inland and heading through the woods and back to the parking area. We will begin the hike going clockwise, along the lake-shore and then into the woods, then when we reach the end we will reverse and retrace our path, finishing by going along the water again. There is very little elevation gain on this trail – really just one hill in the approximate middle of the hike.

There are no bathroom facilities at this trail.

2 well behaved, leashed dogs will be welcome, first two to email me to confirm

Required Items to Bring:

hiking shoes (This trail does have some quite rocky sections)

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

The Trail of the Muscogee is located just inside the main entrance (East Gate from Hwy 78) of Stone Mountain Park. From the main entrance head straight down the road, staying in the right lane. Immediately after the first bridge, pull into the gravel drive. If you cross the second bridge you’ve gone too far. This is all less than a ¼ mile into the park.

The GPS coordinates at top of event listing will take you to the entrance to the gravel parking area.  Here is a link to google maps:

Notes:

Stone Mountain does charge for parking ($20/day or $40/year). I do not recommend the option of parking in downtown Stone Mountain and walking or biking in along the trail on the west side as we are on a trail on the far opposite side of the park.

Notes: We will cancel for heavy rain or severe weather, but will go on as planned in light rain.
