We plan to start at the Powers Island lot which hopefully will be less populated than other lots this weekend.

This hike will involve two sister units of the CRNRA - - on opposite sides of the Chattahoochee River.  We'll start at the infrequently used Powers Island parking lot.

We will catch some river views as we cross the bridge over the Chattahoochee to Cochran Shoals.

When we cross Terrell Creek, we will take the  boardwalk and head into the forest to follow the Creek as far as the trail will take us.

At the circle where 3 trails meet, we will have  our turnaround point where we will take the non-bike, hiking-only trail southbound toward the Columns Drive end of the Unit.  Along the way, we will pass the historic Scribner Family cemetary.

Once at the bottom of the river valley, we will hike along the non-bike, hiking-only trail river trail that parallels the main trail southward as we continue our return.

When our time is complete, we will cross over the Chattahoochee to the Powers Island parking lot.

There is a $5 parking fee at this location if you don't have an annual pass.  Parking must be done online either at home or before the hike through your smartphone.

Please keep a mask with you to use when social distancing isn't possible.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is NOT the Cochran Shoals Interstate North parking lot!!! This is the parking lot across the river at POWERS ISLAND.
