Sunrise at Summit and Hike around - Stone Mountain - Fall Colors

Join me for the latest sunrise of the year - 8.01 am.

Hopefully weather will be clear for us when we get at the Summit and we will have spectacular sunrise, as well, we will get good exercise from hiking up and around the big rock, and taking in the beauty that Fall has to offer.

We will meet and start our hike at the Confederate Hall Parking Lot (close to restrooms). From there we will take the Walk Up Mountain Trail to the Summit of Stone Mountain. There we will have 15-20 min brake to enjoy the sunrise, have breakfast or snacks. Then we will go down the same trail until we intersect Cherokee Trail. We will take Cherokee Trail going clockwise and make a loop around the stone, enjoying views around the lake. At the last part we will switch from Cherokee to Nature Trail, and then hop onto Connecting trail back to parking.

Before signing up make sure you are comfortable hiking on rocky and at spots - wet, slippery rocky surfaces. We will hike with moderate pace (approximately 2.5 miles per hour) with few stops to enjoy scenery. The total hike distance will be around 7.1 miles, with about 800 feet of elevation gain.

Note: This event might get cancel due to inclement weather.
