Itinerary:

This is a high end D5.

A couple of 'other' clubs have done this event, but due to scheduling conflicts I wasn't able to attend, but have wanted to do this - so Ralph and I are posting.  Ralph has done this hike in the past, so we have a knowledgeable trip leader (yay Ralph!).

This is an in and out hike at a moderate steady pace.  From the looks of things it has a steady gradual climb, first up Darnell Creek Trail to Wilson Gap and then along the Bartram trail to Rabun Bald.  There are two water crossings, start the hike out in your water shoes and prepare then to change into your hiking footwear.  One water crossing will result in wet feet (be prepared).

We will start the hike at approximately 9:15am after a brief stop at Ingles in Clayton.  I mean brief.  I am allowing 6hr and 45 min which includes a 20 minute lunch, so the pace should average around 2.5 mph overall.

Nonetheless, stuff happens (pack your headlamp).

Approximately 3300 feet of elevation gain (mostly on the way in).

Meet us at the Ingles in Clayton.  Be there at 8:50AM.  We want everyone to wear a mask and combine in a few (higher clearance) cars for the 10 minute ride to the trailhead.

If you don't have a recent D5, email the trip leaders with your recent hiking info (distance, elev., pace); otherwise you will be put on the waitlist.
