Please join me for a beautiful hike on the Helen to Unicoi State Park trail. This is a perfect hike for those that want to get out hiking more but not ready for high elevation. We will be hiking approx 5.5 miles at a moderate pace. This is an out and back trail that is well maintained and wide enough to walk side by side with an elevation gain of approx 600 ft. While this trail is mostly though the woods along a creek there are 2 sections that pass through open clearings. We will hike to Unicoi State Park lodge where we will take a break. PLEASE READ BELOW NOTE. There are bathrooms at the lodge. After the break at the lodge we will head back on the trail the way we came.

We are meeting in the parking lot of Unicoi Hill Park at the trailhead. The lot is off White Strasse Street at N. Main Street. If you are coming north on N Main Street turn right on White Strasse and you will see the parking lot up on the right. Parking is free in this lot but the lot is small. If the lot is full there is plenty of street/public parking along Main Street. Be prepared to possibly have to pay to park.

We are starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please allow yourself enough time to find a parking spot and walk to the meeting location.

This is a moderate pace hike. Not a fast fitness hike and not leisurely. Please be prepared to stay with the group.

NOTE........Unicoi Lodge is hosting their 47th annual Fireside Arts and Craft Show. This show hosts 40 local and national vendors who specialize in unique handmade artistry and crafts. We will be stopping at the lodge for 30-45 minutes to visit the show. Admission is free. Not sure if masks are required in the building so please bring one just in case. If you are not interested in the craft fair you are welcome to bring your lunch and sit on the beautiful porch or the nice lobby and eat and wait for the group. But.... please be prepared for this long rest stop.
