Itinerary:

Back by popular demand, we are celebrating Mexico's Cinco de Mayo with 5 hikes today!   Join us on one of them, two of them, or all of them if you're up for the challenge!  Wear Mexican colors (dark green, red, and white) and get into the spirit of the day!  We'll take a break between hikes 3 and 4 to have a Mexican lunch at Tijuana Joe's on Roswell Road (Sandy Springs). Lunch will take place around 2 pm.  Join us!

Our first hike will be a very moderately paced hike along the very flat Riverwalk path, starting at Don White Park.  It's about 1/2 mile east of Riverside Park.  There are two lots at Don White Park, so be sure you park at the correct one - - 925 (B)  Riverside Road. If you can see the 400 overpass, you're in the wrong lot!  Our lot is about 1/8 mile WEST of the overpass - - a very large gravel lot.

Much of our walk will be on a gravel surface, so it will be easy to navigate.  If the weather has been dry, we'll enter the woods along Riverside Road so that we can enjoy some views of the Chattahoochee as we walk.

We will begin the hike promptly at 8:00 am, so arrive 10 minutes early so that you can meet the other folks before we begin.  We'll enjoy the scenic Chattahoochee River and friendly conversation on this "easy" morning hike.

There are no bathrooms at this location!  If you leave early enough, you can use the bathrooms at Riverside Park, about 1/2 mile down Riverside Rd. from Don White Park.

Required Items to Bring:

Comfortable shoes.  Some of our walk will be on a dirt trail, so be prepared for a little mud if there have been recent rains.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

Bright clothing (Mexico's colors are dark green, red, and white)

Poles are not needed, since the entire hike is flat, with most of it on a gravel surface.
