Itinerary:

This is a FUN and DIFFICULT hike! The views and waterfalls are so worth the drive.

Join us as we traverse the Beech Creek Loop, a waterfall lovers dream with a lunch spot on Big Scaly Mountain with awesome views.

We will start at a small parking area and begin with a steep but short ascent quickly followed by our wettest crossing of the day. Rock hopping is a possibility, but it would be a good idea to change into water shoes for this crossing. We will continue to walk next to and over Beech Creek for the first 5 miles of the trek with brief stops at two really nice water falls. After we move away from Beeck Creek we will climb Big Scaly for great views and a mediocre lunch. After lunch, it is all downhill as we walk next to the Chimney Rock Branch and the Tallulah River as we make our way over difficult terrain. The last mile or so is a road walk and we will be happy to see our cars after a long awesome day.

This is a difficult D5 hike with steep climbs and difficult terrain, recent D5 experience is required to join the fun.
