Itinerary:

Hiking:
We will hike the The Jones Bridge section of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area for a couple of hours.  This area has a relatively flat, wide trail.  Most of the trail follows along the riverside, with other parts entering the nearby wooded area.

We will hike at a steady, moderate pace.  Of course, we will pause occasionally to take in the scenery.  The total mileage should be around 5.5 miles with very little elevation change.

"Jones Bridge spanned the Chattahoochee River from 1904-1922 falling into disrepair in the 1930's. Half of the bridge was "stolen" in 1940; neighbors didn't know the workers cutting the bridge were not authorized to do so until it was too late."

Hooting:
After the day hike we will prepare for a fun evening of guided night hikes and stories around the campfire along with marshmallow roasting while we enjoy night wildlife sights and sounds along the Chattahoochee River.

A live owl program will be provided by the Chattahoochee Nature Center.
