Itinerary:

June Strawberry Supermoon Rise and Sunset at Summit, after Hike around - Stone Mountain

Join me for a perfect way to start the week with hiking at this beautiful place after work.

We will meet and start our hike at 6 pm at the Confederate Hall Parking Lot (close to restrooms).
From there we will take the Connecting trail going counter clockwise. We will hike around the giant rock using the Connecting/Nature/Cherokee trails with a short break at the lake side. From the intersection of Cherokee with Walk Up Trail we will take the side forested trail parallel on the main Walk Up Trail to reach the top of Mountain. I will take you to a secret spot on the Summit side from where we will be able to observe both moonrise and sunset. Strawberry Supermoon rises at 8.20 pm on Monday and Sunset is at 8.49 pm. Soon after sunset we will descend down using the side forested trail again and enjoy the show of the fireflies :).

Before signing up make sure you are comfortable hiking on rocky and at spots - wet, slippery rocky surfaces. We will hike with moderate pace (approximately 2.5 miles per hour) with few stops to enjoy scenery. The total hike distance will be around 7.3 miles, with about 800 feet of elevation gain.
