Itinerary:

This is NOT a hike for beginners or for members who don't have a record of strenous D2 hikes with the AOC.  It IS a hike for members who have not done more than D2 hikes and would like to push themselves to try another difficulty level.  Fast hikers: this is NOT an appropriate event for you!

We'll be taking a very moderate pace up Mt. Yonah.  The hike up the mountain is just a little over 2 miles, but in that short distance, there is about 1500 feet of elevation.  The hike is pretty much uphill for the entire 2 miles.   It's challenging, but we'll take it easy and stop for breathers as we ascend.  We'll stop at the overlook to catch our breath and enjoy the view. (The return hike is mostly downhill!)

We'll stop about 2/3 of the way up the mountain to use the bathrooms ( warning . . .  these are often not clean!) and to rest once more.

Our next climb will take us to an overlook area, where we'll stop to eat snacks/lunch and enjoy the views.  We will then continue a short distance to the very top of the mountain where there is an open meadow.  From there, we will access a gravel path that will take us back down to the bathroom area.  From there, we will retrace our route down the mountain.

We will leave on time for this hike!  Please arrive at the parking lot about 15 minutes before 10 am.  There is a single stall bathroom in the parking lot.
