Itinerary:

Let's hike Gold Branch in East Cobb.  Gold Branch has lots of different trails which offer climbs, decents and some level trails.  We should also get a glimpse of Morgan Falls Dam across the river in the distance.

For those who have hiked Gold Branch, you are familiar with the rocks and roots that can make some of the trails challenging, expecially where the trail runs close to the Chattahoochee.  If you typically use hiking poles, this may be a good hike to bring them on to help negotiate some of the the roots and rocks.

For this hike, we will hike more of the "spokes" that connect the trailhead to the river rather than just hiking the perimeter.  The tradeoff is a bit more elevation gain (about 650 feet) as we criss cross the ridge line multiple times.

As this is a CRNRA unit, there is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass.  There are no bathroom facilities at this unit so plan accordingly.
