Join me as we hike this enjoyable section of the Georgia AT.

We will start at Woody Gap where plenty of parking is available as well as a comfortable set of pit toilets. Up we will go at a quick pace to our first stop, Preachers Rock. A quick stop to enjoy the views followed by some welcome downhill trekking for about 2 miles until we start the rolling ascent that eventually brings us to Blood Mountain. Up and over Blood Mountain we go until we reach the intersection with the Byron Reece trail. This will be our lunch spot. After lunch we will retrace our steps back to our waiting cars.

We will be maintaining a quick pace on this hike. This hike is only suitable to you if you can maintain an average speed approaching 3 mph over this long trek. I will be keeping the group together.

This is a difficult D6 hike, recent D6 experience is required to join the fun.

You may be asking yourself, "What happens if I sign up for this event and I don't have recent D6 experience or I am new to the club." In this case, we encourage you to sign up, but please expect an email from the trip leader to determine your fitness level and compatibility with the event.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $44.80 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
