Itinerary:

This hike will involve two sister units of the CRNRA - - on opposite sides of the Chattahoochee River.  We'll start at the infrequently used Powers Island parking lot where we'll hike the 2 mile loop trail and perhaps a bit of the trail on Powers Island. The loop trail involves a decent hill which will warm us up for the rest of the hike.

Following these trails, we'll cross the bridge over the Chattahoochee to Cochran Shoals, where we'll enter the Interstate North section of trails for another 3-4 miles of hiking.  There are some good hills in this section of Cochran Shoals, so we'll get a nice workout. When our time is up, we'll cross back over the Chattahoochee to the Powers Island parking lot.

Because of the steep/long hills on some of the trails, this hike is not recommended for beginning hikers of for those who have trouble maintaining a moderate pace on ascents.  Poles are recommended.

There is a $5 parking fee at this location if you don't have an annual pass.  Parking must be done online either at home or before the hike through your smartphone.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is NOT the Cochran Shoals Interstate North parking lot!!! This is the parking lot across the river at POWERS ISLAND.  Read the directions CAREFULLY!

We'll be starting on time!
