Let’s start our Sunday morning off with a refreshing hike around the newer and non-tourist side of Sawnee Mountain.  We will first hike a five mile clockwise loop starting at the beginning of the Ridgeline trail.  We will stay on the outer loop and merge on to the Mountainside Trail and then finish up staying on the outside loop with the Hilltop Trail.  After the first 5 miles we will take a quick pit stop at the restrooms and then we will trek the shorter 3 mile inner loop.   If we are lucky we may see wild turkeys, the frequently seen barefoot hiker on the Ridgeline Trail or help lost people looking for the view at Indian Seats.

We will meet near the restrooms at the end of the free parking lot.  The address in the directions section will take you to the parking lot.  Please arrive 15 minutes early for introductions.  This is not a beginner’s hike; it is a solid D3 hike  8 miles and 1100 ft elevation gain.  We will hike at a comfortable 2.5 mph pace.  The path is technical with plenty of rocks and roots to navigate in certain sections.   Please click on the link in the Notes Section for the map for a detailed map of the hike.
