There are 14 mountains of 8-thousand meters and above in the world. Five of those fourteen  8-thousanders are located in Pakistan, these are:

Broad peak

Gasherbrum 1

Gasherbrum 2       and

Naanga Parbat.

You can call them designer or flagship products of the Pakistani mountains. Do you know that there are hundreds of peaks between 4-8 thousand meters in Pakistan? Well within the reach of hiking and climbing enthusiasts.

In August 2019 I with two AOC members did a hiking trip in Pakistan. It was a Non-AOC event and a pilot project. We had a great time, as we spent 12 days in mountains and did four mini expeditions going to the base camps of 9th and 27th tallest mountains, i.e. Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi (In the promo picture we are at altitude of 11,000 feet with Rakaposhi Range and Glacier in the background) we also climbed a smaller mountain (Jilipur Peak) in the valley of Nanga Parbat range elevation 17,000 Ft. We also spent six days in the cities, as both my fellow travelers were interested in the culture.

With the accomplishment of this pilot project and breaking of myth. I felt confident about posting 2020 trip as an AOC event, I did posted the event and two participants signed up too and more members were expecting to join till COVID arrived and we lost three precious years. At personal level, my zeal of going to Pakistan discontinued for one year in 2020 only. I went by myself in 2021 and 2022 and had reached some great elevations including summiting  18,000 feet peak. For both of those years; I did not wanted to take the chance of taking AOC group due to COVID.

Now from the COVID side, things started coming back to normal; except primary security question about Pakistan. So it’s time to post a hiking trip to Pakistan for 2023. Following the past pattern, let's do the Pre-Pakistan discussion event with curious AOC members who want to hike internationally and see the culture in the process. Some may want to come and listen only. All are welcome.

The venue is a Pakistani restaurant in Norcross. Karachi Broast & Grill. Please come, buy your food and let’s talk.
