Itinerary:

Join us for a fun day of Kayaking and Bluegrass! Beginners Welcome!

Kayaking!
We will start by kayaking down a remote and beautiful section of Yahoola Creek, a tributary to the Chestatee River. This section of creek is about 2 miles and has some fun and gentle Class I+ rapids. The creek will put us into the Chestatee River  where we will continue paddling for about 6 more miles stopping at Big Bend Beach for a snack, and continuing on through some more fun Class I rapids.

At the end of our journey down the river we will be shuttled back to the outfitter where we can change clothes and head to Dahlonega!

Bluegrass!
The 13th annual Bear on the Square Mountain Festival is an incredible weekend of music and art held each spring in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Old time and blue grass music will fill the Historic Public Square in Dahlonega, GA. Jamming goes on day and night around the square while other local, regional, and national musicians take the main stage.  We can have lunch, explore the town, check out some music, and relax before heading back to Atlanta.

:NOTES:
We have reserved 16 sit-inside kayaks for our group. Due to water levels in Yahoola Creek, no canoes are allowed. ALSO, because this is a 2-part event, in an effort to simplify carpooling, payments, shuttling, etc. please do not request to bring your own kayak. Let's all use the outfitter's equipment.

Be advised that it is possible some people may tip over in the river.

Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):60Mile(s)
Carpool Departure Time: 7:45 am
Carpool Location:   Log in for location
Carpool Directions:   Log in for directions
Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $24.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Our intention is to make this a fun, full-day outing combining kayaking with the bluegrass festival. We can coordinate the carpool drivers with those who wish to do both and those who prefer to return to Atlanta after kayaking.

PLEASE NOTE: If water levels are low, we will be unable to do the Yahoola Creek portion of the trip and will do only the Chestatee River. The outfitter will call me the morning of the trip to let me know. This will not change the cost of the event.

Will This Event Occur Rain or Shine? Yes however the outfitter will not run during obviously dangerous conditions. Heavy rainfall or lightning may cause the outfitter cancel the trip.
