Itinerary:
I have increased the registration # to 16 as there was some requests to do so. As there is limited parking we may have to run a shuttle from my house if not enough parking spots are available.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a fantastic area for intown hiking. It contains over 16 miles of trails and has many historic battle sites. It is not Just Kennesaw Mountain will be posting hikes that explore some of the other trails that the park offers. While they do have some moderate inclines, these trails are not as strenuous as going up and down the mountain itself. Thus making them a good choice for beginners or those who are not yet ready for the more difficult hikes often posted.

Today we will be hiking from Burnt Hickory Road to the Illinois monument and back to Burnt Hickory Road to our parked cars. Copy the link below into your browser to view a pdf of the park and trails.

Please note we will NOT be hiking up or down Kennesaw Mountain.

Although this is rated as a Moderate hike due to miles and some moderate elevation gain, it is suitable for Beginners as we will be hiking at a slow to moderate pace, taking breaks as needed by the group.

As there are a couple of places on the trail that are often muddy, I suggest you wear hiking boots or other footwear that you do not mind getting muddy.

We will meet at the parking area on Burnt hickory Road @ 10am, introduce ourselves, sign the paper work and start hiking by 10:15am i hope.We may be on the trail for up to 3hrs depending on the pace and the amount of breaks needed by the group. Total milage is 5.2 miles.

Parking is on the side of the road on Burnt Hickory. There is limited parking, but since this is a weekday we should be ok. I live about 10 minutes away, so if we have to we can leave a few cars at my house and run a shuttle.
