Itinerary: | |||||
From Standing Indian we will go up 2 miles on Long Branch trail to the Appalachian trail. After walking 1 mile south on the AT we will reach Long Branch shelter, where we will spend the night. The next day we will continue another 2.4 miles south on the AT to the summit of Albert mountain (elev. 5,250 feet). Summit has a fire tower and a magnificent view. After reaching the summit we will retrace our steps approximately 0.3 miles and then walk about half a mile on a connecting trail, until we reach an old dirt road, now used for horse riding, which descends around 4 miles to Standing Indian. | |||||
