Itinerary:

It's.........Spring

.......and time to return to the woods of Mason Mill and Lullwater Parks.

We’ll meet at the restrooms and playground area at Mason Mill Park for introductions. We start by heading over to Lullwater Park, going around Candler Lake, Lullwater House and traversing some woodland trails. We'll stop briefly at the ruins of the old powerhouse that once powered the mansion. We'll return to Mason Mill to look at the old Decatur waterworks and hike the trails off the boardwalk.

This is a lovely area with some interesting old structures remaining from another era. It makes for fun and interesting hiking.

I maintain an average pace of 3 mph. There are also a few steep slopes with rocks and gravel. This is approaching a D3 and, consequently, not a beginner hike. If you’re not comfortable with tricky footing and maintaining this higher end of a moderate pace, you should sit this hike out. Please arrive at the meeting point early to allow time for any needed pit stops before hitting the trail promptly at 9:00 am.
