Itinerary:

Here's the three-in-one deal: Get your daily workout in; Beat the heat; Dispel those post-July 4th blues, all on the lollipop loop Homestead Trail (Yellow Trail) AT A MODERATE PACE.

Atlanta Trails says: From its trailhead, the five-mile Homestead loop hikes a mile north to Lake Allatoona, wandering through a forest filled with ferns, wildflowers, and wildlife. Reaching the lake’s shore, the hike begins a meandering 3.5-mile loop, rolling elevation and catching stunning view after view. And with plenty of shoreline access, it’s one of our favorite dog-friendly hikes in North Georgia.

Speaking of dog-friendly hikes, my 3-year-old Golden Doodle FIA will be with us, mainly to welcome you to the hike and chase away squirrels!

Please note: There are a few short but challenging climbs (approximately 500+ feet of elevation gain) so if you have not recently completed any D2+ hikes, or if you have mobility issues, this is NOT the hike for you!

As always, we like to begin our hikes on time so please plan to meet at the Red Top Mountain Trading Post (see address below) around 7:15 AM so that we can do our meet-and-greet before beginning our hike promptly at 7:30 AM.
