Itinerary:

Come join me as we celebrate a beautiful spring day hiking along the West Palisades.  Although we begin hiking along a concrete path, we soon switch to dirt path as we enter the woods. 

This section of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area is quite scenic.  There is a lot of wildlife throughout the park.  You may spot a blue heron quietly standing along the riverbank, or a red tail hawk soaring high above. 

The National Park Service has also been spotted here performing a trout release as they help replenish the native fish population.  Hopefully we will also enjoy spring flowers that may have recently begun to bloom.  If so, there should also be butterflies about!

So, c'mon!  Bring your puppy dog and get out!


Required Items to Bring:
$3 parking fee, comfortable hiking boots/shoes, water to stay hydrated, snacks, and a relaxed attitude.		Recommended Items to Bring:

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From I-285 East

  • Take exit 19 U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway)
  • South 1.5 miles to the unit entrance on right, just beyond the BP Service Station. Do not cross the Chattahoochee.

From I-285 West

  • Take exit 20 U.S. 41(Cobb Parkway)
  • South 1.5 miles to the unit entrance on right, just beyond the BP Service Station. Do not cross the Chattahoochee.

From I-75 North

  • Take Exit 25, Mt.. Paran Road.
  • Left on Mt.. Paran Road to U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway). Turn right on U.S. 41 for 1 mile cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate left onto entrance road.

From I-75 South

  • Take Exit 25, Mt.. Paran Road.
  • Right on Mt.. Paran Road to U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway). Turn right on U.S. 41 for 1 mile cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate left onto entrance road.

Notes:
Restrooms are located near the parking area.  I plan to keep a moderate pace.
