Itinerary:

Join me at Island Ford as we enjoy the nice weather after the rain.

We will meet in front of the Park Headquarters / Visitor Contact Station at 5:00 PM.  (There are restrooms available until 5:00 PM, so please arrive early if you may need to visit these before our hike.)

After introductions and waiver signing, we will begin our hike shortly thereafter, making our way on the various trails along the Chattahoochee, while the rest of Atlanta sits in traffic.

There will be a few hills and areas of elevation, enough to get our heart rates up.  I plan to keep the pace moderate.  This will not be too strenuous, but this is not a beginner hike either. Think D2.5 level.

We'll stop to admire the views along the way and will have time to photograph and appreciate the Chattahoochee as well as the wildlife.  There are usually geese, ducks, and maybe a hawk and/or heron to see.

We will also venture into the woods a bit taking in the scenery as we make our way through the area.  We should return to the Visitor Contact Station around 7:00 PM.

Total Miles: about 5-7 depending on the paths we take.

Required Items to Bring:

$3 for parking fee (don't forget this!  You will get a ticket if you don't pay!),
good, comfortable hiking shoes or boots (brand new ones are not recommended),
