Bike season has started and this trip will be good for new bikers looking for a sample of the sport or experienced bikers getting back in shape after the winter hibernation. We'll meet at the Silver Comet Depot, which is a bike shop adjacent to the trail. This will allow you to buy any supplies you need or even to rent a bike (fees will be charged by SCD for this obviously). After the red tape is done we will do a Q&A session for the beginner bikers. I won't have a planned agenda, so bring your questions about equipment, training, riding on the road, etc. We can even do a walkthrough of changing a tire tube and cleaning a chain. Once that is finished the ride begins. We'll ride 10 easy miles (5 out and 5 back). The Silver Comet is a paved trail that was converted from old railroad bed and therefore is nearly flat. It is dedicated to walkers, runners, bikers, etc. so we are not riding in traffic though there are some road crossings. Our pace will be determined by the group, but since it is a beginner trip count on an easy pace of 10-12 MPH. After the ride we'll go out to lunch. IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU are responsible for your bike maintenance or repairs on the trail. I'm happy to assist, but I simply cannot carry equipment for any possible repair on any possible bike. I highly recommend you have your bike tuned up before the ride. Feel free to contact me with any questions about your skill level, your bike, the trip information, or anything else.

Notes: | |||||||
I checked "no" for bringing dogs because I expect no one will have the right equipment for biking with a dog. However if you happen to have a trailer or basket for your furry friend, you are welcome to bring him. All I ask is you let me know beforehand. * We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
