Itinerary:

Join me as I continue to hike the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail!!

We’ll start our hike at Hog Pen Gap around 9am headed SOBO on the Appalachian Trail to Blood Mountain. We’ll hike approximately 7 miles and find a camping spot before we reach Neels Gap. There is camping 200 yards behind the Walasi-Yi  building on the AT, just before the "Raven Cliffs Wilderness" sign. If we reach the sign, we’ve gone too far.

Another option is to stay at the Mountain Crossings Hostel (Walasi-Yi) for $25 (including tax). There are no reservations. So it's first come, first served. Here you'll be able to sleep on something soft and dry, experience real plumbing and shop at the pantry. Here's more information:

https://www.mountaincrossings.com/Articles.asp?ID=253#b

Here, we’ll set up camp and eat lunch. We can get water from the tap under the bay window on the south side of the shop at the lookout at Walasi Yi. Once we set up camp and get water, we’ll hike about 2.5 miles to Blood Mountain for a sunset dinner. Once the sun has set in the west, we’ll put on our headlamps to hike back to our camping spot near Walasi Yi for some sleep.

When we wake up the next morning, we’ll have some breakfast, pack up and head back to Hog Pen Gap.
