Itinerary:

This hike starts at Dockery Lake, meanders over 3 trails to reach Lake Winfield Scott before returning to Dockery. Autumn colors should be in force with great views across the lakes.

Starting at the Dockery Lake Campground we'll follow the Dockery Lake Trail up to meet the Appalachian Trail.  At the intersection we'll take the AT north to Jarrard Gap.  From there we have a short descent down the Jarrard Gap Trail to Lake Winfield Scott.  After lunching by the lake we retrace our route back to Dockery Lake.

This hike features the two mountain lakes, mountain streams, plus a few miles following white blazes on the AT.  Hike distance is about 15 miles with 3000 ft of climbing.

This is a mid-range D5 hike in both distance and elevation.  Average pace will be on the fast side of moderate around 2.7 mph.  Recent D5 or high end D4 experience is required.  Be sure you're comfortable with hikes lasting up to 6 hours (moving time) at a faster pace (up to 3.0 mph).  Hikers without D5 experience will get an email to help assess your compatibility.
