Itinerary:

Decatur cemetery, which covers 54 acres, is the oldest known pubicly owned burial ground in metro Atlanta with headstones dating to 1827.  This will be partially a guided tour/ history of the Decatur cemetery by Cathy, a volunteer guide. The guided tour will last about an hour.  We will meet at the cemetery headquarters, a small building at 229 Bell Street, Decatur, Georgia a little before 10:30 am.  You are allowed to park inside the cemetery.  We will walk about 5 minutes from the headquarters up a hill to meet Cathy at a gazebo at the old part of the cemetery. Cathy (who told me that she has some mobiity issues) will talk and walk with us for about an hour.  Then we will walk for a little more than an hour on our own through the cemetery, through Glendale park and a wooded path nearby.

We will cover approximately 3 miles.  Duration and distance are approximate. There are hills but nothing too strenuous.

Required Items to Bring:

Comfortable trail walking shoes, water.  You may be asked, but are not required, to make a donation.  Bring cash if you want to make a donation. Do not feel compelled!   I will be making a generous donation which will be enough to cover our group.  I am making the donation of my own choice because I plan to visit often to walk my grandson who lives nearby.

Recommended Items to Bring:
