Join us for a sunset hike and picnic atop Blood Mountain, Georgia's tallest peak (elev. 4461 ft.) on the AT. We will take the short but strenuous Byron Reece & Freeman Trails to a large outcropping at the top of the mountain where we will watch the sun set as we share a self-catered, picnic buffet. (Be sure to bring something to share!) We'll spend a few hours enjoying the top of Blood Mtn, and then we'll head back.
The distance each way is 2¼ miles, rocky and steep. Hiking boots and trekking poles are highly recommended. We'll be doing over 1400 ft. of gradual elevation change. In other words, it's a climb. If you are brand new to hiking, this event is probably NOT for you. Please email your trip leaders if you have questions. | |||||||
