Itinerary:

Come join us as we enjoy the wonderfulness that Kennesaw Mountain has to offer- 15.5 miles of trails.

We will start at Burnt Hickory Parking lot and go up and over the mountain to get to the visitor center. We will take a minute bathroom break if needed and then return back to Burnt Hickory Parking Lot.

This is the first " big climb" of the hike. The second part of the  hike is more hill and less mountain. After we return to Burnt Hickory, we will follow the Hardage trail , cross over Dallas Highway and go southbound on the Cease Fire Trail. The hike passes historic cannons and crosses through a beautiful grassy meadow toward Cheatham Hill. We will reach the Illinois Monument and the loop turns here, retracing its steps on the Cease Fire Trail Northbound.

After Crossing Back over Dallas Highway and Noses Creek, the Kennesaw Mountain Loop veers right (about 10.5 miles into our hike), follows the New Salem Church Trail to the East, passing the Confederate earthworks and the foundation of a Civil War-era church before crossing over Burnt Hickory Road.

We will then follow the Camp Brumby Trail northbound on the base of Kennesaw Mountain. The Camp Brumby Trail turns westbound and we will see the ruins of a 1930's era civilian Conservation Corps Camp and hike through the meadow to reach the Park's Visitors Center.

Then we have the last "big climb" back up over big and little Kennesaw and down to our cars at Burnt Hickory Road.

The hike is a total of about 15.5 miles.

Remember that we will begin our adventure at the Burnt Hickory Parking lot. Get there early to ensure a spot. Make sure you have a parking pass. Cost to park is $5.00 if you do not have a parking pass.

We will stop at about 8 miles in for lunch so please bring PLENTY of water and lunch as well as snacks.

This is a challenging hike so you must have good D4 or D5 experience.
