Itinerary:
Please join me and my new dog Nikita for our first  time leading a Dog Hike.I just recently adopted her, and have taken her hiking on this very trail. She behaved well but i have not as yet hiked with her with other dogs. I think she will behave, but i just wanted to let everyone know this is her first time hiking with a group of other dogs.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a fantastic area for intown hiking. It contains over 16 miles of trails and has many historic battle sites. It is not Just Kennesaw Mountain. The Park is very pet friendly all they ask is that you pickup after your pet if they go on the trail( park provides the poop bags at the traihead)

Today we will be hiking with our dogs from Burnt Hickory Road to the Illinois monument and back to Burnt Hickory Road to our parked cars. This is about a five mile hike. If it looks like this may be too much for any of the dogs or their owners, we can turn around when we get to Dallas road, which would make it a 3 mile hike. Copy the link below into your browser to view a pdf of the park and trails.

Please note we will NOT be hiking up or down Kennesaw Mountain.

This is being rated as a easy to moderate hike even though we may end up hiking the five miles to the monument and back. I plan on keeping the pace slow so as to not burn out any of  the smaller dogs in the group..

As with any hike, good footware is always suggested.

We will meet at the parking area on Burnt hickory Road @ 9:30am, introduce ourselves, sign the paper work and start hiking by9:45am i hope.We may be on the trail for up to 3hrs depending on the pace and the amount of breaks needed by the group. Total milage is 5.2 miles if we end up going all the way to the monument and back..

Parking is on the side of the road on Burnt Hickory. There is limited parking, but since this is a weekday we should be ok. I live about 10 minutes away, so if we have to we can leave a few cars at my house and run a shuttle.
