Itinerary:

We will start our hike on the East Trail traveling in the opposite direction from our usual path.  We will follow this trail to the top of the mountain and take a short break at the overlook to take pictures of Lake Alatoona and the surrounding areas.

We'll travel down the Backpacking Trail, connect with the West Trail and hike on to Cooper's Furnace where we will take a 15-20 minute lunch break.  We'll walk from Cooper's Furnace to the Visitors Center and the overlook of Lake Alatoona and then take the Jacknife Trail  back to the top of the mountain and then to the parking lot.  

Our pace will be approximately 2.8 mph.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Take I-75 north to exit 288 (Cartersville - Main Street).  Turn right to the end of Main Street, then right on Komatsu Drive.  Turn left into the parking lot at the "Main Street Parking" sign.


Notes:

There are Porta-Pots at the parking lot and also restrooms where we will stop at Cooper's Furnace.
